Building Resilience

What is it?

HeadStart aims to improve the emotional well-being of those aged 10–16 years and achieve systemic and lasting change for young people and communities across the county of Kent. The project is focusing development within nine local groupings across Kent and has adapted a Resilience framework provided by Daniel and Wassell (2002). This framework, developed by HeadStart Kent and KCA enables participants to understand factors affecting the resilience of children and young people including the Adverse Childhood Experiences that leave children traumatised.

This training provides knowledge to enable practitioners to promote recovery and build resilience in work with vulnerable young people. aims to increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of practitioners working with children and young people aged 10-16 in Kent to use conversations based on an awareness of this framework to support the children and young people to build their resilience, and to track the impact of this.

For people who complete this training there are opportunities to become a Resilience trainer themselves in the future.
